20 Fall Fashion Trends You Can Wear in Your Everyday Life

Fall is my favorite fashion season, but too often, the clothes we view on the runways are impractical for us to wear daily. I love attending New York Fashion Week and taking inspiration from high-fashion designs, but transforming those trends into practical clothing I can wear out with my friends is where I often run into issues.
I will always have a fond appreciation for luxury fashion brands such as Gucci and Chanel, but at this stage in my life, I’m not buying anything at those prices. The clothing trends I see on runways such as layered tulle skirts, oversized hairpieces, and stilettos are fun, but my lifestyle and my budget call for street style. Here are 20 fall fashion trends you can wear in your everyday life.

1. Leather Everything

Leather is one of my absolute favorite trends! I own everything leather from leggings to shorts. This season, leather blazers are the most popular item I’ve seen so far. Black and brown leather is easy to style with everything because they’re neutrals and dress up any look! Leather is a fun twist on a classic blazer.

2. Sweater Vests

This is a trend I never thought I’d be into because I ditched the preppy style years ago, but here we are! The streetwear twist on traditional preppy style is swarming TikTok and Pinterest right now. Wearing a sweater vest as a shirt or layered on top of a button-down shirt is such a look. They come in fun prints or neutral colors.

3. Pleated Skirts

A lot of the current fall trends are carried over from summer. White and pastel skirts were popular all summer and now we’re seeing plaid and darker toned pleated skirts making an appearance for fall. This trend is perfect for those into the Y2K and preppy trends going on right now and can work for many different aesthetics.

4. Relaxed Denim

This is another trend we saw during the summer that is now carried over into fall. Baggy jeans, boyfriend jeans, and wide-leg jeans are popular as well as loose straight leg jeans. It’s easy to style with a crop top or a tight top to give you shape and comfort.

5. Plaid

This trend returns every year, but we see more streetwear types of flannels and neutral prints instead of the traditional bright red, green, etc. paired with skinny jeans and duck boots. I’ve also seen it styled with trendy loungewear and crop tops.

6. Neutrals

Neutrals are popular every fall but the trend of the season is specifically shades of brown and monochrome outfits. Putting together a monochrome outfit is easy, and can be styled with pieces of clothing you already own or with affordable pieces sold at your favorite stores.

7. Patchwork Denim

Patchwork denim has been around for a while, but there’s a spike in popularity of it this fall. Baggy patchwork jeans are all over TikTok right now, including colored jeans with pinks and purple. You can also find the traditional light wash and dark wash jeans worn by people as well sold from your favorite stores.

8. Layering

This is another throwback to the preppy style, but layering is back. Wear your favorite button-down tops underneath a crewneck sweatshirt and add a pair of ankle socks, sneakers, Oxford shoes, a shoulder bag, and gold jewelry to complete the look!

9. Animal Print

Zebra print and cow print are the two most popular animal prints this fall. Leopard print is a reoccurring trend, but I personally haven’t seen many zebra or cow prints in the past. I like to buy animal print accessories to add a fun street style flair to a neutral or monochrome outfit.

10. Shearling Moto Jackets

This is a fall twist on the classic moto jacket. Moto jackets come in a variety of styles and textures, but my personal favorite is a suede jacket with sherpa fur on the collar. I love how this jacket is edgy but warm and cozy at the same time. It’s perfect for an all-black look or to dress up a little plaid during fall.

I can’t tell you enough how much I love teddy coats. They’re warm and comfortable, and they can easily be dressed up or down. They come in so many different styles and textures now that’s impossible to choose just one. This is the perfect fall jacket if you need one that’s stylish but will also keep you warm.

Anything cropped looks better in my opinion, and sweaters are no exception! Cropped cardigans come in a variety of styles and colors. My favorites are the tie-front cardigans and the tighter sleeve cardigans with small buttons.

The boxy look is in this fall. Add a padded tank top to your outfit to bring a little street style to any look. You can accessorize it with your favorite gold jewelry, shoulder bags, and jeans for the ultimate fall outfit.

If you’re not familiar with Y2K, it means Year 2,000. It’s the style that was popular at the beginning of the 2000s. Baggy jeans, cropped cardigans, sweater vests, mini sunglasses, shoulder bags, pleated skirts, and much more are making a comeback.
