To stay sane during quarantine, I’m maintaining my daily routine. I find that I’m more productive if I wake up early every day, keep a clean office space, and get dressed and ready for the day. It’s so tempting to sleep in and wear pajamas instead of a real outfit, but pulling myself together increases my motivation. Now I’m not encouraging you to wear anything crazy or uncomfortable, but I find that wearing a loungewear set, joggers, and a crop top or leggings is a step up from lazy day pajamas. You can go a step further by wearing a little makeup and styling or brushing your hair to complete the work from home casual look.
Makeup is the complete addition to my work from home look. I know that it’s a legit workday if I have my makeup and hair done along with my outfit. I like to keep a little bit of normalcy in my life amid all this Coronavirus chaos, and something as simple as mascara and a little lip gloss goes a long way, as cliché as that may sound. Although I will not use my fake lashes or bold lip colors for a while, a simple, light makeup look brightens my face and keeps me going during the day. Please keep in mind that I’m not a beauty expert or a makeup artist in any way, but I enjoy wearing makeup and taking care of my skin. Here’s my work from home beauty routine!
Step 1: Face Wash and Moisturize
I start the day by washing my face with Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil-Free Face Acne Wash. I’ve used this face wash since I was in high school, and it’s a favorite of mine. This product may not work for everyone, but I always have good results while using it and feel refreshed afterward. I spritz my face with Garnier Facial Mist in a rose scent and then moisturize with Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil-Free Moisturizer. After quarantine is over, I’m looking forward to investing in some new skincare products, but these have always done the trick for me.
Step 2: Prime
I love to prime my face and eyelids before applying makeup and find that it improves my beauty routine. Not everyone finds that primer works for them, but personally, I do think it holds my makeup in place. I recently started using the L’Oreal Infallible Matte-Lock Primer as a base and I like it so far. It applies easily and rubs in clear. For eyes, I use NYX Waterproof Eyeshadow Primer before applying eyeshadow and mascara. This is a new product in my routine too but it keeps my eye products in place well.
Step 3: Foundation, Concealer, Setting Powder
Most makeup artists will start with eyebrows and then move on to eye makeup before doing foundation, but I prefer to do my foundation first. I mostly use drugstore products in my makeup routine. Here and there, I will buy a more expensive palette or lip color, but drugstore products are a great price and work perfectly for me. For foundation, I use Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid. Maybelline foundations are my go-to and great quality. I started using this foundation three years ago, and still love it to this day. After my foundation is done, I add a little concealer under my eyes and on dark spots. I use the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer. I love this product as well, and it compliments my foundation well. The Revolution Translucent Baking Powder finishes off my makeup look. Baking powder holds your foundation in place for hours in case you aren’t familiar with that product.

Step 4: Blush and Highlighter
Normally, I add a decent amount of blush and highlighter to my face because I like the color and shimmer. However, while I’m at home, there’s no need. I may add a tiny bit of blush on my cheeks using the Essence Touch Blush and a little highlighter on my nose and cupid’s bow with my Revolution Strobe Lighting highlighter.
Step 5: Eyeshadow and Mascara
For eyes, I do a light eyeshadow look by blending a brown shade and a pink shade from my Colourpop Blush Crush eyeshadow palette. I picked up this palette right after Christmas, and it’s easily become one of my favorites. The shades are neutral and light, so it’s the perfect palette to use on a day when you don’t want to wear a lot of makeup. I don’t wear any eyeliner while I’m working from home, but I do add Maybelline Colossal Spider Effect mascara.
Step 6: Eyebrows
I leave eyebrows for last because I hate filling mine in. It takes me forever to get the shape and color just right, but once I have it done, they look pretty good. The pomade I use is fantastic, and I can’t imagine using a pencil or tinted brow product instead. I use the L’Oreal Brow Stylist Frame and Set pomade and apply it with a brush. Then, I finish my brows off with Elf clear brow gel to keep the hairs in place.
Step 7: Lips
I don’t wear a ton of lip products on work from home days. I usually use a chapstick form the Chapstick brand in my favorite cherry scent. Occasionally, I will wear a clear or nude lip gloss from Elf if I want to look a little fancier. My favorites are the Elf Lip Lacquer and Elf Plumping Lip Gloss for a little glam.
Step 8: Setting Spray
Currently, I use the Elf Makeup Mist and Set as my setting spray. I’ve used this one for a few years now and like it, but it’s a very moist setting spray. I’m considering switching to a Morphe spray as I’ve heard it has a matte finish.
