10 Comfortable Work From Home Outfit Staple Pieces To Buy

March 28, 2020

Social distancing is still in full swing, and most of us are working from home by this point. I’m no stranger to working from home and usually prefer it vs. going into an office, but I’m aware this is quite the change for people not used to it. Most people are having a difficult time adjusting to this new normal and creating a schedule that works for them. Personally, I believe that having a productive work from home day starts with your routine. Staying in your PJs all day and sitting in bed to do your work is comfortable, but it won’t keep you motivated.

I feel twice as productive working from home once I’ve done my morning routine, applied light makeup, and put on a casual outfit. Getting yourself up early and getting ready in some capacity is necessary to maintain your tight work schedule. Once I have changed out of my pajamas, I automatically feel much more productive and ready to tackle the day. To help inspire you, I’m sharing 10 comfortable work from home outfit staple pieces to buy.

Table of Contents

  • Joggers
  • Leggings
  • Fuzzy Socks
  • T-Shirts
  • Sweaters
  • Pullovers
  • Crewnecks
  • Thermal Long Sleeve Tops
  • Dainty Jewelry
  • Basic Crop Tops

Joggers

Joggers are as comfortable as pajama pants, but they’re slightly more dressed up. When I work from home I like to be comfortable, but I change out of my pajamas to risk falling into an unmotivated mindset. I don’t enjoy wearing sweatpants because they’re bulky and often too big for me in the waist, but joggers are more fitted and made of lighter fabrics. These are a good alternative to pajamas if you want comfort but want to get dressed at the same time.

Leggings

When I’m at home, I wear leggings constantly. I find leggings to be the most comfortable form of pants, and they’re easy to dress up or down. If I’m working from home, I know that leggings are my best choice of attire for the day because I can still look semi-nice without having to completely sacrifice my comfort.

Fuzzy Socks

Fuzzy socks are a necessity whether you’re working from home or having a relaxing day. I like to change out of my slippers, so I don’t feel like it’s morning time and instead wears a pair of fuzzy socks. They’re just as comfortable as slippers, but you can wear them all day with a regular outfit and shoes too.

T-Shirts

I love to wear t-shirts on a casual day. They’re so comfortable and easy to throw on with a pair of joggers or leggings. When I’m working from home, I’m probably wearing a t-shirt of some type. You can never own too many t-shirts. Whether you want to style them casually with leggings or wear a skirt, your work from home wardrobe will thank you.

Sweaters

Typically if I’m working from home, I’d probably wear a sweatshirt or crewneck, but if you have a video call, then you’ll need to look more put together. My advice is to pick up a few classy sweaters you can wear for the call that is comfortable and easy to throw on. If your whole body isn’t being seen, you can still wear your favorite or leggings or joggers with it.

Pullovers

I love wearing crewnecks on a chill day at home as well. They’re comfortable and can be layered over a tank top or t-shirt but aren’t as restrictive as a hoodie. Some come in patterns or have buttons and other fun details that make them appear slightly more dressed up than a typical hoodie or pajama top. I would opt for something like this if I still want to get dressed up but remain comfortable.

Crewnecks

I love wearing crewnecks on a chill day at home as well. They’re comfortable and can be layered over a tank top or t-shirt but aren’t as restrictive as a hoodie. Some come in patterns or have buttons and other fun details that make them appear slightly more dressed up than a typical hoodie or pajama top. I would opt for something like this if I still want to get dressed up but remain comfortable.

Thermal Long Sleeve Tops

While I’m at home, I love to wear comfortable thermal tops or waffle knit tops. They’re nicer than a regular t-shirt, and you can dress them up with jeans or simply wear them with your favorite pairs of leggings or joggers. I’ve collected several tops over the past few months to wear on the weekends when I’m just hanging out with friends and don’t need to dress up.

Dainty Jewelry

You don’t have to accessorize on your work from home days, but I instantly feel more put together once I have a pair of earrings or a necklace on. I love to wear a simple pair of gold hoops or pearl earrings and add a layered gold necklace or a thin gold necklace with pearl details. One of my favorite stores to shop for jewelry is Mejuri. All of Mejuri’s pieces are so dainty and girly.

Basic Crop Tops

I recently picked up a few basic crop tops from Zara, and I love styling them with leggings or joggers. I enjoy wearing cotton crop tops that aren’t very fitted and are easy to throw on and worn all day. I found some cropped tank tops with thick straps, and I find those to be the most comfortable and supportive.

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you’re staying safe xx

As someone whose been spending most of the day writing/studying I’ve found fuzzy socks and sweaters to be lifesavers! Also, I totally agree with you on having to do my routine (getting dressed, doing my face routine) to feel productive.
