Hi guys! I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but I changed my Instagram and blog handles recently. Changing up my usernames has been on my list of things to do for a long time now, but I didn’t have the time to sit down and accomplish this until summer rolled around. I had the most difficult time creating a new username because I was so indecisive about what to rebrand myself as. Don’t get me wrong, I think my old username was cute and represented me well, but I wanted a username that didn’t restrict me to a certain type of style. My style is still mainly preppy and classic, but I do enjoy experimenting with trendy pieces from time to time and didn’t want my posts to contradict my username. I also have this obsession with matching and it really bothered me that most of my social media accounts weren’t all the same username. Once I decided on a name that was available on most social media platforms, I went for it!
Why did I choose The Brightest Brunette? Well, if you’ve ever looked through my feed, it’s no surprise that I love bright colors, especially pink. I wanted a username that represented my style without being too restrictive and one that I could be proud of. There’s nothing wrong with having prep or preppy in your username, but from my experience, not a lot of people took me seriously with this type of username. By purchasing my own domain, I feel like my blog looks more put together and official now. I also purchased the most adorable theme ever from Designer Blogs for only $15! To be completely honest, my blog looked like a mess before this transition. This theme is simple and elegant but also has a fun touch of pink and gold. I feel much more confident in the way my blog looks now and I actually wouldn’t mind promoting it on my personal social media accounts for people I know to find. I think that was one of the main reasons I changed up all of my accounts; I wasn’t confident in my blog before this transition but I am much happier with it now!
With my new username and design changes, I also want to perfect my posts. While I’ve enjoyed working with brands and promoting their products on my social media platforms, I am tired of posting t-shirts. I feel like I’ve outgrown posting about these products and they don’t usually generate the most engagement compared to other outfits I’ve posted in. I only wear t-shirts when I’m lounging at home or exercising– not when I go out places. I don’t have any interest in posting them on my Instagram anymore because they don’t represent my actual style right now. I’m thankful for the opportunities to increase my credibility and brand awareness through the brands I’ve worked with, but I’m moving on from this type of content. I’m going to post more about pieces I wear on a daily bases, which can range from preppy to trendy items. Speaking of my content, I realize it’s kind of lacking lately. I’ve been pretty busy with work and my internship, and I don’t have many people to take photos for me during the summer since my friends and family all work. Nonetheless, I have some ideas for the remainder of the summer and will have more exciting content coming in August once I begin grad school in the city!
With all this being said, I’m excited to move forward and begin posting more content that I’m proud of and feel inspired by. Thanks for sticking with me as I figure this whole blogging thing out, and I’m looking forward to what the future brings for me!
